Beauty is...

Today I went with my dear friend Sylvia and her husband, Glen, to the stunning Bowers Museum, which features cultural art and artifacts.  We are all members, because the Bowers has one thrilling exhibition after another.  Sylvia is becoming a docent there, and is completely enthused.  Right now, she's developing a tour of the Egyptian Mummies from the British Museum.  Today, we had a lovely lunch at Tangata, the restaurant on the premises, then we had a  special tour of the Plein Aire artists exhibit with Jim, a truly charming and smoothly knowledgeable docent, and then Sylvia tried out her nascent docent skills by taking us through the Mummies exhibit.   It was such a pleasure exploring this ancient history with her, and getting caught up in her enthusiasm.

Dr. Romance knows that each of us is most beautiful when we're doing what we truly love. Excitement lights up and softens the contours of the face and makes the eyes shine.  This kind of passion is good for the physical body and the emotional and spiritual selves, too.  It's so attractive, and mesmerizing to be with someone infused with the joy and adventure of learning.  It's exhilarating to be influenced by someone else's zest for learning.

As we walked by the "Art of Adornment:Tribal Beauty" permanent collection, I stopped to read about a stunning display of silver ornamentation.  It said that, in that particular Chinese tribe, the more silver a woman wore, the more wealthy and beautiful she was.  Now, that's a definition of beauty I can strive to live up to.  What's beautiful to you?
